The Social Development Group clearly understands that a participatory approach involving key stakeholders is essential to sustainable community development. Therefore the Social Development Group seeks to identify the needs of target groups and develop appropriate strategies in close partnership to ensure projects are manageable and sustainable. The Social Development Group also liaises closely with key community based organisations, non-government organisations and government departments.

In determining client's needs and priorities, the Social Development Group undertakes a situation/needs analysis which highlights key strengths and capabilities. The general approach that the Social Development Group adopts in these reviews involves:

  • participation by client personnel

  • careful analysis of the scope, objectives and tasks of the organisation

  • analysis of the responsibilities, tasks and duties of key personnel

  • assessment of the available human, physical and financial resources.

The Social Development Group relies heavily on its experienced team of community development professionals spread throughout 20 international offices to identify, design, implement and manage these activities.
