The Social Development Group designs, manages and evaluates education, training and scholarship programs in countries of origin and in Australia. The Social Development Group has established strategic and collaborative alliances with Australian universities and vocational education and training organisations, and with Australian Government entities such as the Australian Department of Education, Science & Training (DEST).

SMEC has experience with a variety of educational delivery mechanisms including distance education (traditional and advanced techniques), and various emphases such as girl's education, gender-mainstreamed education, and community and rural education.
